Warm Up: We will observe a live magnetic demonstration and have a brief discussion of our observations. ****Note: if you are not in-person for the demonstration watch this video.
Lesson: Today, we will begin our journey towards understanding magnetism. Our goal is to be able to define a magnetic and describe the characteristics and behaviors of such. To start, we will watch the following video and will share out our three biggest takeaways.
Next, we will take a moment to read about magnets with the following article. After reading the article we will work in small groups to compare and contrast electromagnets and permanent magnets.
Lastly, to demonstrate our understanding of magnetism, we will split into small groups and will each create a model, or representation, that shows how our Earth is a magnet. This can be a diagram, a rap, a short story, and/or a skit. Our focus is to define what a magnet is (through the lens of our Earth) and to describe it's characteristics.
*******NOTE: PLEASE RETURN ALL BORROWED RUBE MATERIALS TO TINA. MOSTLY, I WANT THE PULLEYS, HOT WHEELS TRACKS, AND MARBLES BACK!********
Google Classroom: Please complete the assignment Circuit Simulation Lab Exploration in Google Classroom by 11:59PM, tonight (4/19/21).
